“The Family Housing Project addresses a real need in our community to provide a safe place for families in transition,” Silver Sage board chair Edmund Bellegarde said in a news release.

“We have families who are in the process of re-establishing themselves in the community and simply need a safe, affordable place to live.

“We see this partnership as a one of many paths to healing, and a way to honour that relationship with our future generations,” the release added.

The federal and provincial government jointly contributed $900,100 toward the construction of the six units.

An additional $150,000 in funding was provided by the City of Regina.
