It’s Family Weekend at the 2019 Parade of Homes, presented by the Saskatoon & Region Home Builders’ Association (SRHBA).

Now in its fourth year, Family Weekend (Aug. 17-18) has become one of the Parade of Homes’ most anticipated special events. Parents are invited to bring the kids along as they visit the 32 different show homes on the parade route, each designed and constructed by Certified Professional Home Builders. The Parade of Homes is open for viewing now through Sept. 15.

“Come and meet your favourite princess and super hero characters in the show homes and take photos with them,” says Jennifer Lamontagne, director of business development with the SRHBA. The characters will be at different parade homes on each day. Go to paradeofhomesonline.ca for the schedule and complete list of Family Weekend festivities.

Family Weekend is also a great time to check out the many family-friendly show homes on the parade route extending across Saskatoon, Martensville and Warman — and, for the first time, Blackstrap Lake.

North Ridge Development Corporation enters the parade with a family-pleasing 1,663 square foot two-storey show home — The Camden — located at 310 Germain Manor in Brighton.

North Ridge sales consultant Tamara Pelemis says The Camden is one of the new floor plans the company has unveiled for 2019. The home’s Prairie Modern exterior, distinguished by a unique roof line, dramatic black window frames and accents of cultured stone and Hardie Board, delivers great curb appeal.

Pelemis notes the attached 22 by 24 foot garage has an eight-foot overhead door. Unlike a standard garage, the future owners will be able to park a truck inside The Camden’s garage.

A large foyer extends the full width of the home, offering a custom mud room in addition to a large coat closet and powder room. The luxury vinyl tile floor is easy care and weather resistant.

The home’s interior is bright and inviting, featuring an open concept main floor with nine-foot ceilings. The easy flow between the kitchen, dining area and living room is ideal for entertaining, highlighted by the rustic wide plank laminate flooring that extends through the great room. Large triple-clear windows ensure an abundance of natural light.

The Camden’s kitchen stands out with elegant white Shaker-style cabinetry and a contrasting onyx matte black quartz-topped island. Finishing touches include a convenient built-in pantry, designer tile backsplash, undercabinet lighting and contemporary black matte pendant lights. “The quartz counters are repeated in all of the bathrooms,” says Pelemis.

Another family-friendly zone is located at the top of the stairs on the second floor. The bonus room is an ideal space for relaxing, watching TV and playing games.

Across the hall is a large, wellequipped laundry room. “It’s a nice big laundry room with a window. There’s a full-length area with a rod to hang clothes to dry. Behind the door is ... shelving for ... cleaning supplies,” says Pelemis.

The large master suite comes complete with a stylish ensuite bath and a large his-and-hers walkin closet.

The two children’s bedrooms are generous in size. Both feature closets outfitted with custom organization systems.

Adding to the home’s family appeal is its location in Phase Six of Brighton. “There’s a brand new park just down the street. When built, two new elementary schools will be nearby. People are also excited by the great mix of commercial development in Brighton,” says Pelemis.

North Ridge Development Corporation has a record-setting nine show homes on display in the 2019 Parade of Homes, located in Rosewood, Evergreen, Montgomery Place, Stonebridge, Warman and Lake Vista in Martensville.

“The Parade is a great opportunity for us to showcase all of our different products and for people to see our new floor plans and trim packages. We’ve got homes for everyone and every stage of life,” says Pelemis.

The North Ridge parade home at 310 Germain Manor is open for viewing weekends and holidays from noon to 5 p.m. and Monday through Thursday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.

Other show homes on the parade route are open for viewing weekends and holidays from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m.; Monday through Thursday from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. The Blackstrap parade homes are open for viewing only on weekends.
