Laser treatments are more popular than ever, but if you’ve never tried one and don’t know where to start, Starz Laser is ready to help.

Smoothing cellulite, permanently removing body hair and erasing sunspots, rosacea, spider veins and melasma are only a few of the treatments currently offered at the family-run clinic.

“A lot of people say they do laser treatments but it’s not always quality lasers — or even actual lasers,” owner April Sitarz said.

“They call it laser but it’s actually just intense pulse light. So, it’s really important that we have topof-the-line lasers and our experience lets us know the difference between true laser and the other low-level lasers.”

Running the clinic alongside her three sisters Julie Rozek, Rita Bzowy-girling and Anita Johanson, Sitarz’s team has more than six decades of combined experience in the cosmetic laser industry. They have seen laser technology evolve over the years.

“It’s become more and more comfortable,” Sitarz said. “Some of those older lasers are more painful and less effective.”

“We also have a lot of experience in treating different skin types and knowing the specific parameters to use,” Bzowy-girling added.

Sitarz started the clinic in a rented one-room space but after a year and a half, demand was so high that she decided to expand into her new, much larger space. Now, the clinic boasts five lasers, multiple employees and an expanded range of services.

“I was thinking of a five- to seven-year plan for expansion, so the move was definitely much sooner than expected,” she said with a laugh.

“It was really amazing. Anytime you have to take a leap of faith like this, it’s a bit nerve wracking.”

Because laser treatments are becoming more well known thanks to celebrities like Kim Kardashian and TV shows such as The Doctors, Sitarz says interest in laser treatments has exploded, though she is quick to note that her prices are more reasonable than many would expect.

Some of the most popular treatments other than permanent hair removal include hydrodermabrasion, a facial exfoliating treatment perfect to get skin glowing and hydrated before a big event; skin-tightening treatments, which help stimulate collagen production but take a little longer before the effects can be fully appreciated; and the Velashape and Ultrashape Power treatments that target and destroy fat cells, helping smooth and contour trouble spots with very little to no pain.

“I think the Velashape is one of the few treatments out there that actually helps to reduce cellulite and that’s a huge thing for women,” Rozek said.

“I think a lot of women don’t realize they are able to treat their cellulite ... with no pain and no downtime.”

The clinic also rents space to a variety of contractors offering massage therapy, gel nails, microblading, microneedling and permanent makeup, so no matter the issue, Starz has someone ready to help you put your best face forward.
