KEYSER, George

May 30, 1924 - Oct. 27, 2019

Born the middle child of three on the family farm south west of Wynyard, George was no stranger to hard work. From milking cows to breaking horses to all aspects of growing and harvesting crops, he embraced the true reward of labour.

A product of the Depression George used his innate intelligence to solve problems, invent solutions, and create his famous 'fixes'.

He married the local school teacher Bina Reykdal in 1949 and together they raised three daughters.

Always community minded, George served on several boards including Nordra School, Wynyard United Church, Pleasant View Cemetery and was instrumental in establishing the Regional Park.

A special interest was Pion-era where he won awards for speed in stooking. He prided himself on a best time of 1:24. Also, George was a recognized figure around town for his early morning bike rides picking up empties followed by a stop on coffee row.

Predeceased by wife Bina, parents William and Hilda (Coles) Keyser, sister Merle Thompson and brothers-in-law Rueben Thompson, Egill Reykdal, Barney Reykdal, Gisli Reykdal, Bill Blackport and son-in-law Jerry Hindley, George is survived by daughters, Beverley Keyser Wynyard, Marjorie Keyser and Pat Keyser Saskatoon, grandson Nathan Niedzwiedz (Jade Rosen) Wynyard and greatgranddaughters Adriana and Carys Niedzwiedz Wynyard. He will also be remembered by sister Mildred Keyser Saskatoon, sisters-in-law Gudrun Blackport Lanigan, Opal Reykdal Regina and several nieces and nephew.

Appreciation for family and friends, a curious mind, and a lively sense of humour sustained George throughout his life and in his final years.
