PEARDON, Glenn

-

Jun. 12, 1928 - Oct. 20, 2019

With heavy hearts his family announces the passing of Glenn Wesley Holman Peardon on October 20th, 2019. Predeceased in July, 2018 by Isabelle, his wife of 63 years, Glenn will be lovingly remembered by son Russ (Norine Hori), daughters Carol and Karen (Stafford Euinton), grandchildren Drew, Devon, Cole and Liam, sisters Mona Willoughby and June Emslie, brother Lyman (Fern) and a wealth of wonderful nieces and nephews.

Born June 12, 1928 on the family farm in Loreburn, Saskatchewan, Glenn lived a vibrant, busy early life with his eight sisters and five brothers before earning a Biology degree and teaching certificate at the University of Saskatchewan and a Master's Degree in Math from the University of Wisconsin. He taught in rural Saskatchewan, then at Luther College, and spent many summers helping his parents and brother Lyman with the family farm. In the summer of 1962, Glenn became one of the first computer programmers for the Saskatchewan Provincial government, igniting a passion for computers and prompting a career change that would lead to top Information Technology leadership positions with the University of Saskatchewan, Provincial Government, Saskatchewan Wheat Pool and the University of Regina. He was one of the founders of CA*NET, the beginnings of the internet in Canada. Delivering math and computer science courses for the universities along the way, he found his volunteer work tutoring SUNTEP and Regina Rams students particularly satisfying.

Glenn loved travel on family road and camping trips, but music may have been his favourite recreation. A selftaught saxophone and clarinet player, Glenn performed in dance bands and in various band and choral ensembles, church choirs and in the cast of a number of Lyric Light Opera productions in Regina. He was also a passionate Saskatchewan Roughriders fan and season ticket holder for many years.

The family would like to sincerely thank caregivers Carol, Chrissy, Donna, Gail and Katherine for the wonderful care and support provided in recent years to Glenn and Isabelle. A celebration of Glenn's life will be held in the spring. In lieu of flowers, donations to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.
