-

It is with a heavy heart that we announce the passing of Grace Stella Schneider (nee Kuchta), age 83 years. Grace was born in Yellow Creek, SK on June 24, 1936 to Mary and Steve Kuchta, and passed away on February 21, 2020 at St. Paul’s Hospital from complications of COPD. Mom was the third youngest of four siblings. Mom enjoyed spending time with her family and friends. Mom was extremely proud of her grandchildren and their accomplishments. Many times, Mom would say how blessed she was to be able to see them grow up and have children of their own. She loved cooking, gardening and travelling with Dad in Canada and the United States. She enjoyed her long-term employment with the Saskatoon Co-op and retired in 1993. It was during those years at the Co-op that mom developed a beautiful friendship with Mona Woodcock, who was always there for mom to offer love and support and a fun time when she was free to go to the Casino or play Bingo. They both had a great sense of humour which mom enjoyed till the end of her life. It was also that special friendship that helped mom deal with the loss of Dad on February 21, 2009. Mom leaves to mourn son, Michael (Joyce) and their children: Matthew (Kaitlyn), Vanessa and Kathleen: daughter, Michelle (Arthur) and her children: Jeffrey, Ashley (Addison) and great- grandchildren: Joshua, Logan and Harvey. Also left to cherish her memory are her siblings: sister, Helen Wojcichowski and brother, Lawrence Kutcha and numerous nieces and nephews. Grace was predeceased by her husband of 49 years, Jerome Schneider, her parents: Steve and Mary Kutcha, sister; Anne Kostyk. A special thanks to the staff at St. Paul’s Hospital and St. Joseph’s Nursing Home. The funeral service will be held February 26 at Hillcrest Funeral Home, 210 Wess Road, Saskatoon at 1:00 p.m. with celebrant Rev. Fr. Clement B. Arthur. In lieu of flowers donations in memory of Grace may be made to St. Michael’s Parish, Saskatoon.
