Stolen ipad leads to child porn, extortion charges
REGINA A Regina man has found himself both crime victim and accused after turning to police for help after he was allegedly extorted when his ipad containing child pornography was stolen.
The man and the woman who allegedly attempted to extort him have been charged with offences.
According to Staff Sgt. Scott Lambie with the Saskatchewan Internet Child Exploitation Unit (ICE), a man walked into police headquarters Sunday and reported that his ipad had been stolen. He said he was being extorted for money because he had child pornography stored on the device.
“He was showing the officers the extortion demands, and in those messages were pictures from the child pornography that was actually on his ipad,” said Lambie.
Police later identified a woman who was allegedly trying to extort the man. She was arrested Monday when she tried to collect the ransom. Police seized her cellphone, as well as the stolen ipad.
The ICE Unit’s investigation of the child pornography led police to execute a search warrant at a residence in Regina. They found child pornography and seized a computer, plus numerous hard drives. .

Deandrea Emmalee Moise, 20, has been charged with extortion, theft under $5,000, possession of property obtained by crime, possession of child pornography, accessing child pornography and carrying a concealed weapon.
