Five now charged in connection with man’s death

Saskatchewan RCMP have now charged five people in connection with the disappearance and homicide of 20-year-old Humboldt man Allan Douglas Garrioch.

In a news release on Thursday, RCMP said they arrested Steven Veilleux, 42, and Jodie Lynn Veilleux, both of Prince Albert, on Wednesday. They are the father and stepmother of Brettin Andrew Veilleux-pelletier, 21, who was arrested on Tuesday and charged with first-degree murder in the case.

Two other men, Tristan Daniel Morrison, 21, and Joshua Domenic Canevaro, 23, both of Saskatoon, were taken into custody on Saturday, but charged on Monday after remains confirmed as being Garrioch’s were found in the Rural Municipality of Bayne on Monday.

Steven Veilleux is now the third person facing a first-degree murder charge in Garrioch’s homicide.

He and Jodie Lynn Veilleux also face additional charges including kidnapping while using a firearm, forcible confinement, and flight from police. They are expected to appear on Friday in Prince Albert provincial court.

Garrioch, who also used the last name Glasier, had last been seen at his home in Humboldt, leaving with three males unwillingly on Feb. 25.

RCMP said Steven Veilleux and Jodie Lynn Veilleux were taken into custody after police on the RCMP’S Crime Reduction Team pursued a Jeep Cherokee from a gravel road south of Davis, Sask., to Weldon, Sask., where the Jeep became stuck in a ditch.

Police said a man who had been driving the vehicle fled on foot. Ultimately an RCMP canine unit found him hiding in a bush. A woman was located in the vehicle.
