Message from CARAS/THE JUNO Awards & Musicounts President and CEO
Thank you for joining us for the 2020 JUNO Awards! This year we are celebrating 49 years of excellence in Canadian music and we are excited to be heading back to Saskatoon. Thank you to Mayor Clark, Scott Ford, Todd Brandt, Cheri Hamilton and the entire Saskatoon Host Committee, for all of their hard work in preparation for JUNO Week. We encourage you to go out and experience the arts, culture and booming culinary scene Saskatoon has to offer.
We have a great JUNO Week ahead of us, with plenty of events catered to all ages featuring our signature Junofest Presented by CBC Music, JUNO Fan Fare Presented by VIRGIN MOBILE, and JUNO Songwriters’ Circle Presented by SOCAN in Association with Music Publishers Canada. We are also delighted to bring back some of our newer events such as our JUNO Comedy Show Presented by Siriusxm Canada and our JUNO Stories from the Studio Presented by YSL Pro & Universal Audio and more. To wrap up this amazing week, we will be hosting Canada’s Biggest Night in Music from the Sasktel Centre, live on CBC and cbcmusic.ca/junos.
CARAS would like to salute this year’s Walt Grealis Special Achievement Award recipient, Pegi Cecconi. She has been working in the music industry for nearly 50 years and is a true force to be reckoned with. Congratulations Pegi! I would also like to commend this year’s inductee into the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, multi-platinum award-winning singersongwriter, author, and now star of her own hit TV show, Jann Arden. Congratulations to Jann! We look forward to honouring them in Saskatoon.
I would like to extend my gratitude to the CARAS Board of Directors, the CARAS staff and all of the volunteers who work diligently to make every year an incredible experience, our PR team at rock-it promotions, our broadcast producers, Insight Productions, our partners at CBC and of course, the City of Saskatoon and the Province of Saskatchewan.
Congratulations to all of this year’s JUNO nominees! We eagerly await to celebrate our talented Canadian artists and musicians in Saskatoon and we wish you a fantastic JUNO Week.
Sincerely,
Allan Reid | President & CEO, CARAS/THE JUNO Awards & Musicounts
