GREEN, Jessie Mary (nee Sidwell)

-

It is with deepest sadness we announce the passing of Jessie Mary Green on Friday, March 6, 2020 at the age of 90 years. Jessie passed peacefully in Brooks, Alberta with family by her side. Jessie was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on December 23, 1929 to Roy and Esther Sidwell and grew up in Frenchman Butte, Sk. After graduating from high school, she moved to Saskatoon to attend Teacher’s College. She began her teaching career in a school near Delisle, where she met and soon married Howard Green. As their family grew they lived in several small towns in the area. Rosetown was to become their home as Howard worked in the insurance business and Jessie re-established her teaching career and took an active role in the community. Her talents were reflected in art and many art related activities. Jessie was the art teacher in Asletine School for over 10 years. In 1975 they relocated to Bassano, Alberta, where they would spend the next 21 years. Howard bought an insurance agency and Jessie was now semi-retired. They were very active in the community for many years and hosted many family events at their home. After Howard’s passing in 1996, she moved to her cabin at Little Fishing Lake before moving to Salmon Arm, B.C. a few years later. Jessie made her home there in the Senior’s Strata, where she valued her friends and family visits. 5 months prior to her passing she returned to Bassano. She was an accomplished landscape painter, seamstress, gardener, wood carver, ceramics designer and she sure could swing a golf club! Through all of this Jessie always welcomed a game of Rummy or Canasta with her grandchildren. While she loved to win, she proudly embraced the days when the kids grew enough to finally beat her. It just meant she taught them well. Family was the most important thing to Jessie. She was always so proud of all of their accomplishments and did not mind telling everyone about it. Jessie leaves to forever love and miss her, all the loves of her life 4 children; Donna Koning (Erwin) of Saskatoon, SK., Larry Green (Cindy) of Little Fishing Lake, SK., Debra Green (Norm) of Bassano and Diane Green (Craig) of Blind Bay, B.C.; 9 grandchildren, Jenn (Steve), Nicole (Adam), Marina (Daniel), Stephanie (Reid), Tinaya (Stevie), Dustin, Chase, Mackenzie and Kade;11 great-grandchildren, Steve, Jordan, Brady, Avery, Koby, Liam, Zaylen, Kalimaya, Starlyt, Cazmiyra and Matayah; 2 sisters, Edith Wall and Hazel Reiser, along with many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. She was predeceased by her husband Howard, 5 brothers and 3 sisters. Jessie will forever be loved and missed by her family members and friends. She was a kind and loving soul, and more simply a good person. A Family Service will be held.

In all of life’s beauty, we find you there.
