James "Jim" William Mcculloch passed away peacefully on Monday, May 4, 2020 at the age of 97 at the Orange Memories Care Home in Rosetown, SK. Jim was born in Landis, SK on April 22, 1923 to Thomas and Sarah (née Wilson) Mcculloch and had two brothers, Gordon and Louis. He went to school and helped out on the family farm south of Landis. In January of 1942, Jim joined the Army at the age of 18 and went overseas with the Regina Riffles in 1943. He fought in WWII, landing on D-day in June of 1944, fighting their way through France, Belgium and Germany. He helped liberate Holland in 1945 and was discharged in March of 1946. After returning to Canada, he began work at the Department of Highways in Rosetown as a mechanic. He met his wife Edith (née Low) in 1947 and they were married on October 25, 1947. Jim was an active and long-time member of the Rosetown Legion serving in all the positions and a member of the Rosetown Fire Department for 36 years. He moved into Orange Memories in November of 2018 where he resided and received outstanding care. Jim had many friends and couldn't walk anywhere without running into someone he knew and stopping to chat. He was always willing to lend a hand and would help out anyone who needed it. He spent many hours in his garage working on vehicles, small motors and anything that needed repaired for his neighbours, friends and family. "Shake the hand that shook the world!" was one of his many sayings. Grandpa, you shook the world with your bravery, kindness, gratitude, selflessness, wittiness and humour. You will never be forgotten and forever be remembered for what you have done for us all and your country.
