-

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our father, grandfather, husband, and brother on May 5, 2020, at the age of 85. He was born on January 24, 1935 in Edmonton, AB to James and Elizabeth Macdonald. Glen is survived by his children Karen, Deborah, Brent (Charlene), Lisa (Martin); his grandchildren Courtney, Ali, Dylan, Alex, Austin, Taylor and Zachary. He is also survived by his sister, Elizabeth, his brother Bob, and devoted partner Edna. He was predeceased by his mother, father, brothers (Ian and Bev) and his former spouse, Eleanore. Glen grew up in Edmonton and he was an exceptional athlete who won many awards playing hockey, golf and curling. He later moved to Saskatoon, married and became a devoted, family man who was very proud of his children and grandchildren. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed watching sports including cheering for the Roughriders. Glen was an accomplished and well respected sales representative for Molson and Carling O’keefe for almost 30 years, it’s fair to say Dad knew a lot of people. He loved to travel to meet with his rural customers and he excelled in building strong relationships with his dynamic personality. Glen had a special talent for working with numbers, similar to his dad, and later in life started a successful career in financial planning. Dad had a big heart, great organizational skills, would never shy away from being the emcee at events and was always the first one to put his hand up to volunteer or chair the committees for the hundreds of charity and sporting events, which he contributed to throughout his life. Glen was a proud member and former President of A.C.T., former President of the Parents’ Teachers Association at Cardinal Leger School and helped coach many of his children’s sporting activities. Dad was a very social and an out-going person that prided himself at being well dressed and professional for all occasions. He was a true gentleman who positively touched the lives of so many by being your spouse, father, brother, great friend or Mac the beer rep. He treated everyone as equals, with unconditional support, always kind, respectful, unselfish, not materialistic and thinking of other people first. He had a wonderful sense of humour, loved to make jokes and kibitzing to make people laugh and smile. Glen was friendly, easy-going and frequently the life of the party, which made people gravitate to his presence. He enjoyed singing, any form of gathering, as well as playing kaiser and crib with his friends. Dad will always be forever in our hearts and memories. We wish to thank his wonderful caregivers at Samaritan Place as well as the dedicated staff on 6200 at RUH for the past few weeks. A celebration of life and interment to honor and raise a glass of beer for Glen Macdonald will be announced at a later date. Donations in lieu of flowers can be made to the Cdn Lung Association or Cdn Heart & Stroke Foundation. To share memories and condolences, visit www.parkfuneral.ca "Obituaries-guestbook."
