Footage reveals truck at scene of homicide

-

A surveillance camera captured footage last month of a truck that Saskatoon police believe was connected to the city’s fourth homicide of 2020.

Through their investigation into the April 13 death of Tanya Alcrow, police acquired footage of a dark-coloured truck parked on Avenue T “facing north at the time of the homicide,” police said in a news release.

Witnesses told investigators “that the victim approached the truck when she sustained a gunshot wound,” the release states.

“The truck stayed parked for almost one minute after the shooting, and then travelled north toward 22nd Street.”

Alcrow, 19, was found around 3:50 a.m. near the intersection of Avenue T and 21st Street. She was transported to hospital, where she died from her injuries.

Family and friends remember her for her kindness.

“She had this special laugh that made everyone happy, and her positivity was the best. She had a beautiful smile that just lit up a room as soon as she walked in,” Cynthia Alcrow,

an aunt of Tanya Alcrow, told The Starphoenix. Alcrow’s death was the fourth homicide recorded in Saskatoon in 2020.

On March 4, Ally Moosehunter (Witchekan) was found dead inside her Hampton Village home. Police were called to the house after she didn’t show up to work, which was out of character. Ivan “Roberto” Martell, 29, is charged with second-degree murder.

Isaiah Brunton, 17, died on Feb. 17, two days after he was shot. No charges have been laid.

On Feb. 9, Terrance Paintednose, 41, was fatally stabbed in the 300 block of Avenue R South. Tyrone James Morin, 22, is charged with second-degree murder, robbery and two counts of breach of probation.
