Rowling slams cancel culture
J.K. Rowling has joined 150 writers and academics in signing an open letter slamming cancel culture, weeks after calls for her to be cancelled for remarks about transgender identity. Rowling joins others including Salman Rushdie, Gloria Steinem, Malcolm Gladwell and Noam Chomsky in a letter published Tuesday in Harper’s Magazine. The letter says that while a “needed reckoning” on racial justice is needed, it’s also contributed to a “vogue for public shaming and ostracism” and “a blinding moral certainty.”
