Day parole revoked for former massage therapist

Saskatoon man violated conditions of release by not reporting relationships

A former Saskatoon massage therapist serving an almost 10-year sentence for sexually assaulting massage clients and women he met on dating websites is back in custody after breaching a condition of his day parole requiring him to report all romantic relationships to his parole officer.

According to a parole board decision this month, Mark Mcmahon Donlevy's parole has been revoked after he was suspended in December 2023.

He was ordered to report all attempted communication with women to his parole officer after he was granted day parole on Aug. 3, 2023.

“This condition protects females who are unaware of your sexual offending and will manage your risk as you can work with your parole supervisor to work through this area should you attempt or enter into a relationship. It will remain in effect for the duration of your day parole,” the July 27 decision states.

Weeks later, Donlevy, 55, met a woman on Tinder and began a relationship with her without telling his parole officer, according to the board's decision to revoke parole.

He challenged the wording of his release condition with his case management team and his continued release was allowed, the decision states.

He then made a dating profile on Plenty of Fish, discovered in December 2023, and again without prior permission.

Despite being transparent on his profile about his past offences, he “showed no remorse, a lack of awareness and (was) victim blaming,” the board noted.

He told his parole officer that he was lonely and wanted to make friends after moving to a new location. He claimed his therapist and program facilitator told him it was a safe way to meet people, a claim they both rejected, the decision states.

Donlevy did not explain why he hid it from his parole officer.

“During the hearing, it was evident that you do not understand how this is a risk factor for you and you were once again in your crime cycle, as you previously gained access to two of your victims through a dating website,” the decision stated.

“You continue to fail to have insight into your actions and you do not take responsibility for these breaches.”

The decision also noted that Donlevy has struggled with his prison programming and continually challenges his facilitators and the materials.

“Of great concern is that you went on to a dating site while participating in the sex offender community maintenance program, which demonstrates you either do not understand the program material or that you just choose not to apply the knowledge you have gained.”

Offenders accused of breaching a parole condition are suspended as a temporary action until a final decision is made to either release the offender back into the community, or revoke parole.

Donlevy first applied for day parole in 2021 after serving two years of his sentence.

He was denied based on information indicating that his risk to reoffend could not be managed in the community, and that he used his mental health issues to deflect responsibility.

He was sentenced in 2018 to a three-year prison term for a 2004 date rape.

He was also charged with 12 counts of sexual assault against 12 female massage clients between 2009 and 2016.

Six of the charges were stayed, and Donlevy received a four-year sentence on the other six charges in 2019.

Then in January 2023, he was sentenced to an additional 33 months for a 2011 sexual assault against another female massage client, and for raping a woman during a date in 2012.
