Climate action a waste for Canada
The carbon tax and other climate initiatives are based on a huge flawed assumption that Canada can slow down global warming. One of the initiatives is by shutting down coal-fired plants. However, China has 1,142 coalfired plants, India has 282 and the U.S. has 210.
Canada has nine. The federal government is ramming carbon tax, electric cars, etc., down our throats and all it is doing is increasing the costs of production for our factories and driving more production to China and India. Meanwhile, the quality of life for our citizens is declining.
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and his do-gooders think they are smarter than us and crave the world stage. But the facts are the facts.
Canada produces just over one per cent of the world's carbon emissions and Saskatchewan is 1/40th of Canada's population. Taking into consideration Saskatchewan's forests and cropland, we use more carbon than we produce.
Shutting down Saskatchewan's coal-fired plants has zero effect on global warming, but costs our citizens millions of dollars. I would hope politicians start working for their constituents and not the minority groups making the most noise.
