team for the Montreal Impact.

Lemire joined fellow defenders Abdoulaye Samaké, Aron Mkungilwa and Nevello Yoseke, midfielders Heikel Jarras, Samuel Duffek and Léonardo Kossaka; as well as forward Alexandar Kulic who will join FC Montreal for the team’s stretch run in the United Soccer League.

The former Sherbrooke Verts star has played a pivotal role in the Academy’s team success over the last two years. Partici- pating in the United States Soccer Development Academy league, a 77-team circuit featuring the best U-18 clubs in North America, Montreal finished in third place overall in 2014.This summer they once again reached the semi-finals and placed fourth.

“I’m really proud of this group,” said Impact U-18 head coach Jason Di Tullio after the season. “It justifies the work that was done by the Academy staff over the last few years. We developed a three-year plan and now three years later and we have achieved our goal.”

FC Montreal head coach Philippe Eullaffroy agreed that the Academy is fulfilling its role in developing young players.

“Having the eight U-18 players graduating from the Academy to the USL team shows that we work well,” Eullaffroy said. “If we have that many players that have the potential to be with FC Montreal, it shows how healthy the Academy is. It also improves the group because we add a lot of potential in the team. It brings extra energy and freshness.”

The club announced that the new signings will train full time with the team and will be eligible for the rest of the USL season. However none of the call-ups were in uniform for the team’s 0-0 draw with Charleston Saturday evening and it is unlikely that any will see action as Montreal pursues a playoff spot in the USL.
