Sherbrooke launches call for Abénaquis art project

- Record Staff SHERBROOKE

The City of Sherbrooke’s Tags and Graffiti Committee is calling on urban artists to submit their proposals, by April 24, for a wall project to be created on the Hydro-sherbrooke Water Towers at the Abénaquis generating station, located on the edge of the Magog River Gorge.

To submit a project, graffiti artists must reside, work, or study full time within the Sherbrooke territory. In addition, the proposals must relate to the Magog River Gorge or, more generally, to the history of hydro-electricity in Sherbrooke. A jury composed of representatives from the City of Sherbrooke and external experts will study the proposals received and communicate its choice to the Visual Arts Commission, which will then endorse this decision by the Executive Committee. The selected artist or group of artists will be informed of their selection at the end of May. The work will be performed during the month of July.

Interested artists can visit sherbrooke.ca/graffitis for selection criteria, technical requirements, and all additional information.
