Featured Pets: Snap, Crackle and Pop

Kitten season is in full swing and what that means is a whole lot of unwanted and abandoned kittens in need of a safe place land. Some will arrive with a nursing mom, others will be a little older and already weaned, some will be sick and undernourished and in some cases, we will find ourselves with tiny motherless kittens who will require round the clock care with one of our foster famillies. Suffice it to say, as cute as kittens are, we are not looking forward to the next few months.

Kitten season is the time of year when cats are most likely to give birth, inundating shelters and animal rescue groups with homeless litters. The season lasts for about 5 months but is at its peak in the late spring and early summer.

With so many stray cats looking for homes, please don't add to the overpopulation by allowing your cat to breed.

Today we'd like to introduce Snap, Crackle and Pop, three sisters who are 8 weeks old and who will be ready for adoption shortly.

How did they end up at our shelter? Well, it seems their mom's owner didn't get her spayed but allowed her to go outdoors so, for those of us who understand the basics of the birds and the bees, it comes as no big surprise that she eventually came home pregnant.

Since we can't turn back time, our focus now is to find responsible and loving homes for her kittens (and our hope is to get mom spayed too).

All three are very cute, very friendly, very affectionate and very playful!

Snap is the bravest of the three and loves to explore and find new and fun things to do. She is curious and easily intrigued when a new toy is introduced. She is a beauty too.

Crackle seems to be the most cuddly and will cry out when looking for a little extra attention. She is also very spunky and full of beans and has a funny little tail that curls around her body when she is relaxed or sleeping.

Pop is proving to be the most people friendly and is happiest when she has a lap to sit on where she can settle in and purr the day away. Pop is also quite the adventurer and when she doesn't have a human to keep her company, she keeps herself busy finding new and exciting games to play.

Snap, Crackle and Pop are in a foster home very close to the shelter so if you would like to meet them, please send an email to

frontieranimalsociety@gmail.com and we'll be happy to set up your visit.

Looking for an older cat? We've got some great ones at the shelter so please consider stopping by at our adoption clinic which takes place every Saturday from 10 a.m to noon at 2405 Griffin in Ogden.
