Be a part of the first health and wellness fair
Getting healthy is important but sometimes it’s hard to find local information, and then your health suffers. What better way to get healthy than to visit a health fair! Health fairs play an important role in the community because they give people access to information that is vital to their health.
Healthy People, Healthy Communities is the theme for the health and wellness fair happening this June 10 at the Centre Lac-brome, 270 rue Victoria, in Knowlton. The event is the first of its kind to be organized by the steering committee of the Health and Social Services Partners’ Network — a group of local health and social service organizations.
The free health and wellness fair will help promote a healthy lifestyle by featuring two talks by professionals, a video presentation on ticks and Lyme disease, and kiosks with information and local resources.
Featured speakers include retired family physician Dr. Robert Pincott who will share information on what’s new at the Brome Missisquoi Perkins Hospital along with other things you might not know about the hospital in Cowansville, and Dr. Camillo Zacchia, senior advisor at the Montreal’s Douglas Hospital, with a focus on mental health issues.
This event is organized by the steering committee of the Eastern Townships Partners for Health and Social Services, Montérégieeast network, which includes Townshippers’ Association, Avante Women’s Centre, Yamaska Literacy Council, CIUSSS de l’estrie Adaptation Program, CIUSSS de l'estrie — CHUS, the BMP Users’ Committee, and the Mental Health and Well-being Support Group in Brome Lake.
This initiative is funded by Health Canada through the Roadmap for Canada’s Official Languages 20132018: Education, Immigration, Communities.
