British Invasion coming to the Piggery

-

TSubmitted by Jan Draper

he Boundary Rotary Club and the Piggery are happy to announce an evening with the Hi-fins: The Montreal group will perform songs from the groups that everyone loves: Beatles, The Stones, The Animals, The Zombies, The Dave Clark Five and a number of others. Music during the sixties does not belong just to those of us who are old enough to remember it but to everyone…have you ever heard someone say they hate the Beatles??

The Hi-fins is not a group that just “sounds like” the sixties. It is a sixties band playing now in this millennium with their own sounds but with same intensity and vibrancy that marked that era. That music is so high energy because it is very rich and captures the feeling of those times so it is no wonder that it crosses generations and appeals to all.

This is the third year the Rotary and the Piggery are cooperating to support work in the community: The Club gives local scholarships, prizes in the elementary schools in Stanstead, North Hatley and Ayer’s Cliff and works with the Sherbrooke Rotary Club to supply some students with back packs, helps with the Children’s Room at the Haskell Library, supports Camp Massawippi. The club also works with Stanstead College students to strengthen an impoverished rural school in Vietnam and in Guyana to help one of the First Nations to record their culture before it disappears forever.

The Hi-fins will invade the Piggery stage on May 27.
