The real Dutch Mason

adult audiences. The creative team describes the cast as “dysfunctional, but like family.”

The leads, playing a young and adult Dutch respectively, are Daniel Nadeau and Bishop’s professor Dr. James Crooks.

“I love being the chess piece,” exclaimed Crooks, feeling excited at the opportunity to work with theatre professionals such as Lynch and Ferry.

For Nadeau, who is studying business with a minor in music at Bishop’s, it is an amazing experience.

“This is my first time in any sort of drama, and it’s a big role,” the student said. “I have to balance Dutch’s charisma with his pain.”

“Wade’s gone through great lengths to tell Dutch’s story. He goes beyond the facts,” said Ferry.

Dutch will also be produced in Charlottetown, but Lynch and Ferry consider themselves lucky to be working with BU.

“We’re working on a small budget,” offered Ferry, “but we have access to some of the best musicians in Sherbrooke.”

Fannie Gaudette, veteran musical director, will be guiding the actors through 18 blues classics.

Down the Road with Dutch Mason will be presented at the Turner Studio Theatre, starting at 8 p.m. on June 6. Patrons are however invited to show up early to get into the spirit of the event at the “Turner Tavern,” where they can have a drink from the onstage bar and enjoy the cast jamming to classic blues tunes.

Tickets are $15 for students, $25 for adults, and $22 for seniors. These can be purchased on Centennial Theatre’s website, www.centennialtheatre.ca, or at the box office: 819822-9692.
