Local musicians weekly features at inn

- By Olivia Ranger-enns

Stanley Lake has high hopes of revitalizing Knowlton. This long-time jazz musician, poet, and songwriter has once again partnered up with fellow colleagues including pianist Michael Hynes and singer Almut Ellinghaus, among others, to feature an evening of jazz at the Lakeview Inn on Thursday nights.

“I think we need some economic stimulus,” said Lake reflectively with a slight shrug of the shoulders. Lake has been performing at the Lakeview Inn for over 15 years and recently took a year off. “We’re expecting between 30 and 80 people to come out and listen to our bands.”

Waking up the sleepy but touristy town of Knowlton is certainly not a bad idea. In the summer, tourists flock to the legendary bookstore, featuring local celebrity Louise Penny, and reward themselves after a long day shopping by tucking into some quintessential Brome Lake duck dinner. At the Lakeview Inn, located at 50, rue Victoria in Knowlton, a number of key attributes should be taken into consideration. Firstly, the outdoor pool will be open for visitors as the concerts begin on Thursday evenings between 7 and 9 p.m. Secondly, the recently updated menu will feature Greek dishes including moussaka and Greek salad. Thirdly, the dinners on hand are affordable, most dishes costing between $13 and $16. Finally, there is a good old fashioned bar tucked away at the corner that will offer visitors the chance to sit back, relax, and listen to some original tunes penned by Stanley Lake et al., or some good old classics that one never tires of. Honestly, what else could you ask for?
