On May 16, we had our last meeting of the year. Our President, Shirley Desruissea­ux, started the meeting with a few words to the group, asking that we think of our friend and member Joe Cutler in our prayers. She read a few stories for Mother’s Day and a few jokes.

Shirley also introduced Jade St-martin in charge of the outreach program at the CAB in Coaticook. Jade explained that she is the ‘resource person’ for people living alone or in need of assistance in anyway. She can be contacted at 819345-0877.

Lydia May informed us that she had been talking to Aline Patterson. She is well in Montreal and sends her regards to everyone. She will try to visit this summer.

Door prizes were won by Jim Bailey, Penny Fowler, Betty Haskell, June Bolton, Lance Paxton, Leanne Mayhew and Suzanne Martin.

Grace was said by Shirley before lunch.

The participat­ion prizes were won by Janet Shepherd and Debbie Roy.

Penny Fowler talked about a course on laughter and the good effect is has on us. We all took turn with haha, hihi, hoho. It was a bit hilarious and put us in a good mood. Penny also took the opportunit­y to thank Ketha for the way she takes care of her mother and Shirley for her dedication as President of the CASCC for many years and the way she kept it going. Later she also presented Shirley with a plant and more good words for her involvemen­t.

Shirley thanked Micheline and her staff for their contributi­on to our Tuesday meeting.

Members with birthdays this month were Jim Bailey, Ernestine Whipple and Dorothy Woodman.

Shirley presented our speaker this month, Debbie Roy who is a painter. She showed and explained the paintings she had brought, the various courses she teaches. The winner of one of her paintings was Marge Buzzell and a last drawing from the Seniors was won by Leanne Mayhew.
