Impact to visit Ottawa Fury FC on July 12 at TD Place

The Montreal Impact announced on Monday that the club will play a friendly game against Ottawa Fury FC, the Impact's associate USL club, on Wednesday, July 12, at 7pm at TD Place, in Ottawa.

"We are very happy to play this friendly match, which illustrates the partnership between both clubs," said Impact technical director Adam Braz. "We will have the chance to play in the Ottawa/gatineau area for the first time since joining MLS, and we hope to see all our supporters from this region to the match."

Playing its first season in the USL, Ottawa Fury FC sits in 11th place in the Eastern Conference with a record of three wins, three losses and four ties in 10 regular season games.

Last December, both clubs announced a new partnership that would allow the Bleu-blanc-noir to send players on loan there. Forwards Michael Salazar and Nick Depuy have both made good of this opportunity, while former Montreal Impact Academy players Jimmy Sanon, Aron Mkungilwa, Thomas Meilleurgiguère and David Paulmin are currently playing with Ottawa, although their MLS rights still belong to the Impact.

Founded in 2005, the Fury first started playing in the USL PDL. In 2011, Ottawa was awarded a franchise in NASL, where the club started playing in 2014. After the 2016 season, Ottawa decided to leave the NASL and join the USL for the 2017 season.

Scotsman Paul Dalglish is the Ottawa head coach since 2016, after coaching many North American teams. He is joined by Bruce Grobbelaar, legendary Liverpool goalkeeper in the '80s and '90s, who acts as assistant and goalkeeper coach. Jed Davies was also hired in the summer of 2016 to be Dalglish's assistant.
