LAWRENCE CLARK 1934 - May 21, 2017

Lawrence was the eldest son of Joseph Clark and Verna Lester of South Durham. He went to school at the South Durham Consolidated School. He helped on his father’s farm until he was old enough to work out part time helping neighbours. In 1964, he worked for Dow Chemicals in Richmond. He married Nicole Chagnon on June 26, 1965. They lived in Lachine where he worked for Zellers in the distribution warehouse. Their son Wayne was born in 1966. In the fall of 1967, he bought a small farm in South Durham moving out to it in the spring of 1968, where his son Wendell was born in December of that year. He worked many years as a part time truck driver and occasional farm helper for Lloyd Miller of South Durham. He also helped the elderly in the neighbourhood doing odd jobs, painting and washing the walls and ceilings for them. In the winter, he would clear their driveways of snow. He loved to play cards and would go for miles to play. In 2003, he sold his farm to Andre Martel due to ill health. He moved to the village of South Durham. He stayed there until ill health sent him to the hospital where he passed away. He leaves his wife one month short of 52 years and his son Wendell, his sister Freda (Evan Coote), his brother Neal Lester (Sandra Fee), many nieces and nephews, also many cousins. He was predeceased by his son Wayne in 2014. He will be missed by those who knew him.
