Featured Pet: Charlotte

Charlotte has spent the better part of her life on the outside looking in. A social dog, she is happiest when she has people to keep her company so living her life outdoors, separated from those she loved, was probably a little hard on her spirit. Charlotte was not abused or neglected, nor was she chained. In fact, she was well cared for, she just wasn’t welcome indoors.

With the sale of his house pending, Charlotte’s former owner is unable to keep her so she was brought to our shelter. Since her arrival two weeks ago, she has settled in nicely and she loves to cuddle up with a blanket and hunker down for the night on her very own bed.

All who have come to know Charlotte, adore her. She is sweet and friendly and has a loving and affectionate temperament. She is good with dogs, fine with cats and she is used to being around kids. Her gentle nature is hard to resist. This seven-year old beauty is said to be a mastiff, bouvier and lab mix. She is a big girl who weighs in at 120 pounds but for optimum health she should lose 1520 pounds. An older dog, she is beginning to show some signs of stiffness when she first gets up but the vet feels that with regular exercise, weight loss and a daily supplement of Glucosamine (purchased at any pharmacy and inexpensive) she’ll limber up. Although not used to walking on a leash, she is very good and does not pull.

Charlotte loves the car, loves her walks and most especially loves being the center of attention —not in a pushy way, just in a happy way.

If you think you can give Charlotte the home she deserves, one where she can indulge in being a cherished indoor dog, we’d love to hear from you. Charlotte has a very endearing way about her and has lots of love to give.
