Young driver killed in Bury
A21-year-old man from Stornoway died Saturday at a roadside exit on Route 108 in the Gould Station area of Bury.
Sûreté du Québec officers from the Haut-st-françois MRC were called to the scene at about 2:30 pm.
According to the most recent information the driver, Samuel Duquette, initiated a prohibited passing maneuver and had to try to avoid a wild turkey that jumped in front of him. Duquette then lost control of his vehicle and hit a tree along the highway. He later died in hospital.
The Sûreté du Québec confirms that an accident investigation is being carried out to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the death. Mechanical inspection will also be performed on the victim's vehicle to verify if a mechanical defect could have been involved.
