Hélène Drouin becomes first female president of RLB
The board of directors of Renaissance Brome Lake has unanimously endorsed Hélène Drouin as the association’s new president. She replaces outgoing president Michel Delorme. “I have been privileged to serve as president this past year and I am now happy to turn the reigns over to Hélène,” commented Michel Delorme, who himself made the motion for his successor.
Delorme, one of Quebec’s foremost experts on bat populations, now chairs a provincial committee on this matter as well as continuing his volunteer work with many other associations, including Renaissance.
Drouin, a property owner since 2005 when she moved to the Townships from Greenfield Park, has been a member of RBL since 2006 and an active board member since 2015. She immediately began work on several files, including board secretary duties and special events organization. A retired respiratory therapist whose family has lived in Mansonville for four generations, she has always been concerned with public health issues especially about the overall health of the lake and its effect on current and future generations.
“I am honoured to follow in Michel’s footsteps and especially delighted that he will continue as a board member and work on his science files,” Drouin said. “I am also pleased that this transition will be seamless because of the excellent quality, dedication and energy of our board members. RBL boasts some 15 committees, ranging from membership and communications to special events to science and strategic planning. It also regularly conducts inventories of species, monitors aquatic plants, and regularly updates its mapping and monitors shoreline health and water quality.”
