Featured pet: Luther
stimulated. He is also curious, so it's important he is given plenty of opportunity to explore and discover new and interesting environments.
Shepherds aren't pushovers, so his adopter should also be dog experienced.
When outdoors, Luther is active and enthusiastic and he loves spending time in our fenced-in dog park where he busies himself running and chasing his toys. He enjoys his walks too. He isn't perfect on the leash but with a little consistency and training, it shouldn't take long to get him on track. He is very treat motivated which is a great training tool. We've recently started using a halti and while he is still getting used to it, it does work well.
As we get to know him better, we've come to understand that Luther tends to be a little independent in his manner but he is not aloof. When he accepts you into his inner circle, he connects nicely. He has certainly earned our respect and admiration and once in a home, where he can settle down and establish a bond and relationship with his new family, we have every reason to believe he'll be a loyal and steadfast companion.
Luther is not tolerant of most other dogs so proper introductions are a must. If you are looking for an easygoing dog park dog, Luther isn't for you. He is best suited to a home without young children and he cannot live with cats.
If you think you can provide Luther with the home he deserves, please send an email to frontieranimalsociety@gmail.com or better yet, give our adoption coordinator Brenda a call at 819.876.7747 any day of the week between 8 a.m. and 8 p.m.
