Vintage Bike Show

-

"We are very happy at the turn out as the early hours of daylight didn't bode well, with glowering skies and scattered showers lingering over the area," said organizer Bill Johnston, but Mother Nature relented, the sun appeared and crowds began to gather. By afternoon, green spaces were filled with a dazzling array of motorcycles, chrome and fancy paint jobs gleaming, owners standing by with a polishing cloth wagging from a back pocket.

Another section featured vintage vehicles, farm tractors and equipment with the star in that category an original wooden baler, nearing its hundredth birthday and astoundingly, still operational.

"The Mechoui was very successful also," said Allen Stevens, adding they were very proud of the proceeds they would be able to forward to the two-anglophone schools in Richmond.

There were snacks available, ice cream and popcorn; all provided by nonprofit groups such as the local historical Society and the local Scouts of Canada.

"We're already planning next year's show," said Dave Provis, another organizer, "And judging by the participation and public interest this year, we'll continue to grow. Actually we're planning for a two-day show already," he emphasized. All the organizers added their thanks to one and all, participants, sponsors, supporters and especially the public. Certainly, success was in the air as three and four generations of families came out to enjoy a sunny Saturday afternoon with plenty to see and admire.
