Activities for younger participan­ts

The Canada Day committee has organized new and returning activities that they would like you to participat­e in.

Along with the inflatable games, petting zoo, birthday cake and ice cream, face painting, Hail Mary Money Grab, cake, and fireworks, we have these exciting activities also free of charge:

Bike Parade 1 p.m. No registrati­on necessary. Just show up with your decorated bike. The theme is “Happy Birthday Canada.” Departure from community center at 1 p.m. Arrive at Lions’ Park for 1:30 flag raising ceremony. Judging will be done after the flag raising ceremony and prizes will be awarded for best decoration, so be imaginativ­e and creative.

Dog Show 2 p.m. Registrati­on onsite with Jeri Burgess. Show up with your dog for 2 p.m.

We are looking for smallest dog, longest tail, saddest eyes, best costume, and many others.

Arts Alive 2-6 p.m. New Activity You (and your parents too!) can stop by and get creative from 2-6 p.m.

Arts Alive! 2-5 p.m. New Activity From 2-3 p.m., enjoy a drumming workshop with Frederic Gauld. From 34 p.m., try out line dancing with the master line dancer Debbie Melanson.

From 4-5 p.m., we’ll have a special surprise guest leading a visual art workshop that will blow your mind!

Giant Natural Mandala 3 to 7 p.m. New Activity Show up at 3 p.m. with your stones, branches, pebbles, sticks, leaves, petals, shells, dried beans, or any other natural material. You’ll help create a giant natural mandala.

Volunteers Needed Are you 12 years or older? Would you like to volunteer a few hours of your time to help with activities on Canada Day?
