Knowlton to celebrate 150 years of Canada’s Confederation with Arts Alive! Québec
The historic village of Knowlton, on the shores of beautiful Lac Brome, will be celebrating the finest art the Eastern Townships has to offer, and everyone is invited to the 2017 edition of Arts Alive! Québec!
From June 25 to July 8, locals and visitors can enjoy workshops, concerts, and shows that will prove that the Townships artistic scene is alive and kicking. Between screenplay writing and kite-making workshops, exploring outdoor theatre and Celtic music magic, visitors will experience first-hand our active and vivacious local arts.
To celebrate the country’s 150th anniversary, AAQ has joined with the Brome County Historical Society (BCHS) and Lac Brome’s Canada Day committee to offer free arts activities on July 1 at the Lions Park. Kids can get creative with some of our best local artists, and all ages can explore drumming, line dancing, and visual art during Workshops in the Park.
Taste a cup of Confederation Coffee at the BCHS on Canada Day. Entry to the museum to view the new agricultural exhibit costs just $1.50 and includes this commemorative beverage. On the museum lawns, the Knowlton Players will perform Roger Delamare’s musical play, United We Stand, with characters from Canada’s history, including Queen Victoria herself, at 11 a.m. At 12:30 p.m. the Honeysuckle Sisters will sing songs from the forties.
AAQ Knowlton will officially open that afternoon with a reception in the Theatre Lac Brome’s stylish new lobby. To round out the evening, Vintage Wine will then perform a concert of rock classics (reservations required: 450-2422270).
Arts Alive! Québec is an initiative of the English-language Arts Network (ELAN), made possible by the financial support of the government of Canada. Funding for AAQ in Knowlton has also been provided by Town of Brome Lake.
