Écosphère Fair presents 12th Townships Edition

The Écosphère Fair is announcing its twelfth edition in the Eastern Townships and its second in Magog, September 30 and October 1, near Pointe Cabana at the parking lot on the corner of Cabana St. and Route 112. This year, Daniel Breton, automotive columnist and author of the book, “L'auto électrique, hybride ou écoénergét­ique” and former Quebec environmen­t minister, and Jacques Duval, journalist, author and leading automotive specialist in Quebec, will be the spokespers­ons for the Écosphère Fairs.

Active for more than five years in Montreal and more than 11 in the Townships, these events bring together more than 30,000 people, more than 400 exhibitors, and almost 100 conference­s in two days, in addition to numerous on site activities: electric and hybrid vehicle test drives, organic food tasting, a photo exhibition, a show, animation, and several other activities for the entire family.

The previous edition in Magog attracted more than 4,000 visitors, more than a hundred and twenty exhibitors This year, ;the Toyota Prius Prime will be presented exclusivel­y for Quebec and the Magog fair will also host the Tiny Houses Festival, with at least five energy-efficient tiny homes to allow visitors to understand this trend of environmen­t friendly housing;

On Saturday, September 30 at 7 p.m. the ‘Soirée des Sages’ ‘where stakeholde­rs and scientists discuss environmen­tal issues. This year, the panel will be completely feminine and will feature Magog mayor Vicki May Hamm, Louise Gratton, Ecology and Conservati­on Consultant, Founding Member (2002) and Secretary of the Appalachia­n Corridor, and a member of the Board of Directors of "Two Countries, a Forest" since its origin (2007), and a recipient of several awards recognizin­g her contributi­on to the protection

of natural environmen­ts,. Jacinthe Caron, Executive Director of the Estrie Regional Environmen­tal Council. Isabelle Grégoire, environmen­t education specialist; and. France Levert, Chair of the Board of Directors of the Quebec Women in Environmen­t Network and Chair of the Board of Directors of Ecosphere Fair.

Finally, the event takes place under the marquees at Pointe Cabana so that visitors can enjoy activities even in the event of rain. Free for the general public,

this is an opportunit­y for families and those wishing to learn about ecological initiative­s in energy efficiency in building constructi­on, green transport, organic food, health products, and conservati­on organizati­ons.
