Community toy box set up at Magog’s Horan Park

-

The City of Magog has installed a community toy box at Horan Park on Percy Street, joining an initiative of the Memphré en mouvement organization and becomes one of seven municipalities of the Memphrémagog MRC to provide families with intergenerational gaming equipment.

Installed near the children's modular play area, the toy box is available every day depending on to park's schedule, from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. and is accessible 12 months a year with contents varying with the seasons. Among the forty games available this summer are spike ball equipment, stilts, balls, dancing ropes, Frisbees, Velcro targets and a balance beam.

"We are pleased to provide the public with equipment that allows them to play, run, jump and enliven the neighborhoods," said Magog Mayor Vicki-may Hamm. "We also encourage citizens to add games or toys in good condition to the existing ones in order to improve our inventory."

This concept adds to the diversity of activities offered at Horan Park, which already includes water games, tennis courts and petanque, as well as a children's play module. If the project is successful, toy boxes could be added to other municipal parks in the coming years.

In order for citizens to easily use the contents, the toy box is not locked. The Town of Magog appeals to the goodwill of the public to respect the facilities.
