Phoenix add Maccharles as goaltending and video coach
Last Friday the Sherbrooke Phoenix announced that, after the departure of Benoit Desrosiers to the Quebec Remparts, that they have now hired Brad Maccharles as their full-time goaltenders and video coach. Maccharles who will join the team in August previously served as a skills coach and owner of the Empire Goalie School in Halifax, Nova Scotia.
Phoenix general manager Jocelyn Thibault, said he was "very pleased to welcome Brad to the Phoenix family. His fulltime duties will be a great asset to the organization. He has a long track record (20 years in the service of goaltending) and has been very involved with the goaltenders in the Maritimes."
Maccharles will need no introduction to the Birds’ goalies having worked with Evan Fitzpatrick over the summers, in Halifax.
Maccharles in the team’s statement said he was "very excited to join the Sherbrooke Phoenix as a goalkeeper coach and full time video coach. It's a great opportunity for me, at this point in my career, to train in the QMJHL. Of course, on a personal level, I look forward to the daily work with one of my very good students, Evan Fitzpatrick, and Brendan Cregan, another goalie I know well. I have been very successful as a goaltending coach during my career for the past nine years and I hope to be very successful in Sherbrooke as well. I am delighted to join a first-class organization with a good team in the making, I am very grateful to Jocelyn Thibault for this opportunity!"
