One of the men convicted in the kidnapping, sexual abuse, and murder of Isabelle Bolduc in Fleurimont in 1996 appeared on Tuesday before the Parole Board of Canada (PBC). Jean-paul Bainbridge was sentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole for 20 years for the crime. Bainbridge’s hearing for escorted outings is being held at the Laval federal minimum security prison where he is currently detained.

An Aboriginal ceremony has been requested by Bainbridge prior to his hearing before the PBC Commissioners. The other person sentenced to life imprisonment, Marcel Blanchette will be eligible for parole in 2022 if he applies for it.

The third man convicted in this crime, Guy Labonté, was released in 2002 after serving all of his sentence for his involvement in the murder. He has returned to prison on several occasions for misdemeanors of various kinds, including a 2007 case of uttering death threats against a civil servant. He now lives in the Thetford Mines area.

Blanchette and Labonté were on conditional release on June 30, 1996 when the murder took place.
