Police seek man who propositioned adolescent girl

-

Sherbrooke Police are on the lookout for a man who sexually harassed an adolescent girl as she was walking along 10th Ave. in Sherbrooke last may.

At about 9:30 p.m. on May 22, the victim was walking south between King and Conseil streets when a man on a bike appeared at her side, coming out from behind a bush and asked her if she wanted to have sex or give him oral sex for money. Despite her refusal, the individual was verbally insistent, but did not touch her. He eventually gave up and headed in the opposite direction to that of the victim. A little further on, the victim turned around and saw that the man was following her at a distance. He left when he realized he’d been spotted.

The suspect is described as a man “possibly” of Arab origin, 30-40 year old, standing about 6'', with a slight belly, short, thick black hair, and brown eyes.

He was wearing a khaki green cotton sweater with a black windproof coat with several pockets, jeans-style beige pants, and possibly black shoes. He spoke in French with a strong accent that to the victim seemed to be Arabic.

He was riding a small black bicycle with small wheels, and stickers or white writing. Police have released an artist’s drawing of the suspect and are asking anyone who might be able to help identify this man to contact the Sherbrooke Police at (819) 821-5555.
