melancholy, whimsicality and reality. And a lot of banjo.

That instrument so well played is just as essential to telling these new tales as the lyrics themselves. Each riff adds new depth and meaning to Martin’s narrators and showcases his huge musical talent.

Produced by Grammy-winning producer Peter Asher, the new album offers a collection of 14 new songs including the rowdy and humorous new track “Caroline,” the very romantic number “All Night Long,” and the great “Santa Fe,” which showcases the incomparable dynamic between Martin and the Rangers.

Steve Martin’s musical career plus his work as a comedian, an actor, a screenwriter, a playwright, and many other things he does makes him a complete artist. The Grammy Award winning musician found his love for the banjo when he was 17.

He originally used the instrument as part of his stand-up comedy routine. In 2009, Martin released his first all-music album, The Crow: New Songs for the 5String Banjo, with appearances from stars such as Dolly Parton. The album won the Grammy Award for Best Bluegrass Album in 2010. Nitty Gritty Dirt Band member John Mceuen produced the album.

Since then, Martin has played many impressive stages, including Carnegie Hall, the Hollywood Bowl, Stagecoach, Bonnaroo, New Orleans’ Jazzfest, and many more. Martin released his second full-length bluegrass album Rare Bird Alert in 2011.

The album featured 13 self-penned numbers as well as special guest vocal appearances by Paul Mccartney and The Dixie Chicks. Martin co-wrote two of the CD’S songs with the Steep Canyon Rangers. That year, Martin also won the International Bluegrass Music Association’s Entertainer of the Year Award.

The Steep Canyon Rangers and Steve Martin will host their album release on Saturday, September 30 at The IBMA World of Bluegrass. Loretta Lynn cancels tour and

postpones album Loretta Lynn, now 85, is still recovering from the stroke she suffered back in May. The country music living legend is not feeling well enough to get back to

work. She released a statement postponing her upcoming album and cancelling her tour.

“Thank you so much for all of your prayers, love, and support. I’m happy to say that I’m at home with my family and getting better by the day! My main focus now is making a full recovery so that I can get back to putting all of me into what I love, sharing my music with all of you.

“My new album, Wouldn’t It Be Great, was originally scheduled to come in August this year. I now want to wait to release it next year because this record is so special for me. It deserves me at my best and I can’t wait to share it. I want to thank everyone for hanging in there with me. I am getting stronger every day and can’t wait to get back out there with all of you. I’m just letting everybody know that Willie ain’t dead yet and neither am I, and I can’t wait to see all of you on the road!”

Loretta Lynn has multiple gold albums over a career of almost 60 years. She has received numerous awards and other accolades for her groundbreaking role in country music, including awards from both the Country Music Association and Academy of Country Music.
