Lyons, Moore released before home invasion trial
Two men accused in a case of breaking and entering to commit assault causing injury have been set free until strict conditions.
Justin Lyons has been released pending trial under strict conditions while Eric Moore has registered in a therapy house to treat his drug consumption issues. The two are charged in connection with an incident that occurred on July 23 on College Street in Lennoxville.
Lyons and Moore allegedly showed up at the lodging of an individual in order to avenge one of their friends. The latter, a teenage girl, was arrested in connection with this case but as yet no charges have been laid. Moore and Lyons are charged with breaking and entering for the purpose of committing an indictable offense of aggravated assault and of wearing a disguise for criminal purposes.
Masked by a scarf over their faces, the two allegedly broke into the College Street residence in the evening and immediately began beating the alleged victim about the face. The latter suffered a broken nose in the assault and required about 20 stitches in the face
In statements to the police, Moore claims he did not strike the alleged victim and a witness has stated that Lyons had blood-stained hands after the alleged assault.
According to police, the victim doesn’t know ether of his alleged assailants apart from the fact Moore is the former boyfriend of his current girlfriend, the same teenager implicated in this affair.
Moore was declared fit to face legal proceedings by Court of Quebec Judge Conrad Chapdelaine after the filing of a psychiatric evaluation report prepared in his case. Subsequently, he was sent to a therapy home where he will be confined 24 hours a day, seven days a week save for medical appointments. He will also have to make an appointment with his doctor.
Lyons, on the other hand, will have to respect a curfew between 8 pm and 7 am, must report to the Sherbrooke Police Headquarters every week and will not be permitted to consume any drugs or alcohol. He also had to post a $1,000 bond to ensure these conditions are respected.
Both accused must also refrain from contacting the alleged victim or his family. The case has been remanded to October 3.
