Final ‘Sunday In The Park’ concert for this year in Potton

- The Scoop Mable Hastings

On Sunday, August 27 from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. the Potton Cultural and Heritage committees will present their final in a series of “Sunday in the Park” concerts in Potton featuring the Honey Suckle Sisters. The concerts take place each Sunday from the first weekend in July through to the last Sunday in August at Place Manson in the centre of Mansonville. The concert is free and attendees are encouraged to bring their lawn chairs and a friend or two to enjoy the talents of what has been a wide variety of musical genres and performers. In case of rain, the concert is moved to the second floor of the town hall building adjacent to the park.

The final concert for 2017 features the amazing vocals of Sarah Biggs, Laura Barr, and Almut Ellinghaus accompanied on the trumpet by Stanley Lake with Michael Hynes on keyboard and Kevin Sullivan on percussion. Tight vocal harmonies of the swing era of the 30s and 40s, Andrew Sisters style, and featuring original compositions makes this a show not to be missed!

This year’s concerts included the talents of Amos J, the Lovely Brothers, Ralph Steiner and friends, Matthew Mccully and Jon Macaulay, Mayday, Le Vent des Cantons, and the Sailor Brothers. Many who attended each week have applauded the variety in the performers as well as the joy of having the music brought to the people in the centre of town.

Sundays in the Park is another of the wonderful initiatives of the Potton Cultural and Heritage committees who are responsible for a variety of events happening in Potton. For more information about this event or other Potton happenings, visit: www.potton.ca.

This coming Sunday, don’t miss the Honey Suckle Sisters and one last chance to enjoy summer in the park as fall quickly approaches. Bring a blanket, a picnic, and the whole family; you will be glad you did!
