Valoris ups rates for waste materials

-

Waste management is a constantly evolving field requiring regular adaptation and, since the fall of 2015, material that is sent to the local Intermunicipal waste management board is first sorted and valorized, making Valoris a forerunner in Québec. To date, Valoris has managed to achieve a diversion rate of more than 25 per cent for residential waste and a total of 52 per cent for all waste combined. Valoris' mission is to develop waste materials and minimize their impact on the environment. "Valoris is completing an analysis and is preparing to put in place actions and strategies to increase these rates of diversion and improve the profitability of its operations. The business plan must be adjusted to the reality of today's market and the entire Valoris team is working to achieve these objectives," explains Valoris CEO Jean-françois Sornin.

In order to balance its budget, Valoris has been obliged to increase its rates for residual residential material. Therefore, in accordance with a decision endorsed by the Valoris Board of Directors on June 22, the cost of processing residual materials will be increased by $45 / tonne to $129.24 per tonne for the municipalities of the Haut- Saint-françois and the City of Sherbrooke. However, this cost will be $114.24 per tonne for other municipal customers, an increase of $20 / tonne. These new rates have been in effect since July 1, 2017.

"By choosing Valoris, our clients help minimize the environmental impact of landfills," says Jean-françois Sornin.
