Newest Eldredge release is candy for the ears

- Country Connection Jessie Pelletier Aulis

Brett Eldredge has released his new self-titled album, the fourth one in his career. This new collection is, in fact, everything a great country album should be. The whole CD is candy for your ears. The production seems to focus a lot on his voice as he uses it in different ways to accommodate each song.

Eldredge can deliver an upbeat song, but on the other hand, he also knows how to touch your heart in a very moving way. Brett Eldredge’s voice has always set him apart from other country male singers and this is a plus. His voice is soulful, deep, and rich.

The new album offers an eclectic mix of sounds, showcasing how Eldredge has grown as an artist. He’s got the charm of a crooner, he can convey emotions easily, and diversify his style with ease.

This album is a really strong project, his best collection yet. Fans already in love with the singer are bound to feel the same about the album, and those just discovering his work will no doubt be converted.

Honest, raw, and emotional are the qualities that will strike you when you listen to “Castaway.” With a simple guitar and his remarkable voice, Eldredge powerfully delivers when he sings.

“I tried to fly but I ran out of sky/and I fell straight down into the ocean/i rode a wave back to shore where I stayed for a while/‘til I got tired of being lonely/so why do I always try to run away from you/ please don’t say, a castaway, is what I was born to do/ I guess I’ll always be, lost without you.”

This is one of his most moving songs yet, making for a strong addition to this captivating album. This song is filled with truths that one can relate to easily. It offers an acoustic feel which makes the song sounding very intimate.

“Brother” reminisces about special childhood memories. It feels like he wrote a thank-you letter to a close friend or a brother, for sticking by him during tough times like, when his dad was sick. Eldredge sings, “I hope you know I’d take a bullet/ stand out on the front line/ life is short don’t you know it/ but everybody needs a partner in crime.”

This song might also be a look into the singer’s relationship with his brother, Brice, and the memories they have together. Anybody who has a sibling will be able to relate to this number.

Eldredge co-wrote all 12 of the album’s tracks and did an excellent job. There’s the bouncy “Love Someone,” about how good it feels to love someone. It is also about the special moments of a relationship: laughing together, holding hands, and all the things we share. It is upbeat and catchy. The chorus pulls you in and makes you want to sing out loud.

“Something I’m Good At” is the current and first single released. It’s a very upbeat and catchy song that makes you want to get up and dance. We all eventually find something we are good at and it makes us enjoy life.

“Superhero” really offers a unique sound. The song is about being the person someone else needs. “The Long Way” is about wanting to get to know everything about the person you’re with.

His charming ways come across easily on “Haven’t Met You” a dreamy song about looking for love. You know someone is out there and that this moment will happen and you will find the person you want to spend the rest of our life with.

“I don’t know what you do/ I don’t know where you are/ but I swear girl when I meet you/ you already have my heart,” he croons tenderly, stealing the hearts of his listeners.

“The Reason” is just a fun song about a guy sitting in a bar, trying to forget that girl, but he is having fun. The lyrics are witty and along with the groove of the melody it describes the situation perfectly.

“No Stopping You” is an upbeat song with a beautiful message. The lyrics explain how when you love someone, but you know that you are holding them back, you have to let them go. They will always be on your mind, you will always remember the precious moments you had, but you remain positive that you did the right thing by letting them go.

“Heartbreaker” is an extremely catchy song about the struggles of a relationship.

“Crystal Clear” is a number about getting ‘lost at sea’ and looking back at the shore and seeing how clear it is. Sometimes it is worth it to look at a situation from a different perspective.

It sounds right when Eldredge sings: “See, it’s not about where you are/it’s about where you go in your mind/so if we just pull together/if we just love each other/then life is beautiful/come on and take a trip with me, we’re leaving right now.”
