Caregivers’ Café ramps up for the fall

-

At one time or another we are all caregivers, although many of us do not think of ourselves in that way. The Caregivers’ Café meetings in Knowlton give people information related to themselves and to their loved ones. As well as learning to take care of their own health, caregivers benefit from learning about legal situations.

The topic of legal situations will be the focus of the first Caregivers’ Café of the fall season on Saturday, September 30.

Special guest Sarah Doherty from Educaloi, will present the workshop “Powers of Attorney, Protection Mandates and Advance Medical Directives: Know Your Rights & Protect Yourself.”

This free workshop will explain three key legal documents, sort out common myths, and provide tools for you to create documents tailored to your situation, and will cover the differences between powers of attorney, protection mandates, and advance medical directives. There will also be a discussion on how to make these documents and what to put in them. Finally, we will learn how to get started.

Local resources and model documents will be provided.

Sarah Dougherty has been a lawyer at Éducaloi for more than eight years. She used to work as a lawyer in private practice and a journalist and translator. Éducaloi is an independent non-profit organization that explains the law to Quebecers in simple language.

Join us in the hall of St. Paul’s Church, 24 rue St. Paul, Knowlton from 10 a.m. to noon on Saturday, September 30 to learn about this topic and about Caregivers’ Café.
