CIUSSS comedy tour “a lot of fun”

- By Gordon Lambie

Two out of the four English presentations for the comedy tour put on by the Users’ committee of the CIUSSS De L’estrie CHUS have now been given, with two more to come in Stanstead and Cookshire on the 28th of September and the 2nd of November respectively. The free show, written and performed by Champlain College graduate Dominic St-laurent, focuses on helping users to understand their rights in the healthcare system in an entertaining way.

“It was really dynamic,” said Gwyneth Grant of Sunday night’s presentation in Richmond. “He was very sensitive to what it is to speak to anglos.”

Grant explained that the presentation all revolves around Quebec’s 12 rights of healthcare users and said that the presentation was well balanced, with something for all audience members from young children to seniors.

“There’s a lot of things you don’t realize,” she said. “it was a lot of fun.”

Although free and open to the public, people interested in attending performances are encouraged to get tickets in advance online at www.humourcuci.com.

Asked about whether there would be an English presentation in the western end of the Townships, tour organizers indicated that there was discussion of one to take place in Cowansville, but that the central committee has yet to hear a confirmation back from the local users’ committee, leaving hat possibility up in the air for the time being.
