New resource centre and café opens for Sherbrooke area parents

-

Sherbrooke’s Complexe de la Santé welcomed an innovative new business on Tuesday morning. At once a family-friendly café, baby boutique, and resource centre for new and expectant parents, the new space is a collaboration between local support organization Bedon & Bout’chou and Bromont-based café-boutique Les Z’enfantillages.

“What we want is to offer everything for young families under one roof,” said Annick Wishnowsky, Director of Bedon & Bout’chou, explaining that the idea of combining a social space like a café and a resource centre for parents with young children is unique in all of Quebec.

“It’s a place to foster a community of mothers,” added Gabrielle Lemay, chair of the organization’s board of directors.

The new space, located at 15 J.-A. Bombardier road in Sherbrooke at the intersection of King Street and Highway 410, will soon be offering a range of paid and free workshops on topics covering all different aspects of childrearing as well as activities geared specifically at young children.

Sabrina Michaud, founder of Les Z’enfantillages, explained that the concept behind her current café in Bromont and this new location in Sherbrooke is to provide parents a space that is comfortable for adult conversation but also catered to the needs of young children.

“When a parent comes here, they don’t have to worry,” Michaud said.
