Compton Historical Society holds meeting

Members of Compton Historical Society met at the Waterville Town Hall on October 14, 2017 with an attendance of 10.

The President Jean Marc Lachance opened the meeting, and the Lord’s Prayer was recited in unison.

Minutes of the previous meeting were read by the secretary, Sue Nichols, and were adopted as read.

The financial report was given by the treasurer, Ellie Bailey, and it was adopted as read.

One of the members suggested that a large map of Compton and vicinity be made. All were in favour.

A temporary Committee has been formed, about our society being incorporat­ed, to make a request of recognitio­n from the government.

Informatio­n has been taken on the old houses of Compton and vicinity and the first report should be ready in early 2018.

A note was read from Robert Nichols, thanking the members for the fruit basket he received, following his recent illness, and stay in hospital.
