On October 17, as we have been doing since September, members started arriving for 11:30 a.m. and the meal was served at noon.

Our new President, Penny Fowler, said a few words of welcome and gave us news on two members, Robert Shepherd is in the hospital and Mrs. Woodman wasn’t well. She asked that we think of them in our prayers. She also read the text ‘A smile’, a few stories and the text ‘Most precious gift you can give is ‘’time’’.’ She also thanked Ellen Bailey for doing the cake this month.

Suzanne announced that the Kiosque at the Ferme Groleau on Cochrane road in Compton is opened and has various homemade products including pickles and jellies.

The meeting wasn’t very long this month. We sang Happy birthday to Barbara Paxton.

The winners of the various drawings were : Participat­ion – Shirley Desruissea­ux and Barbara Paxton. Door prizes – Delma Fowler, Susan Beaton, Janet Shepherd, Leane Mayhew, Kathy Bellows, Barbara Paxton, Barbara Bellows, Lance Paxton, Lydia May, Arnold Mackeage and Jim Bailey.

Lydia May gave the name of Kathleen Weil, appointed as representa­tive of the English population in the Québec government. For informatio­n, call the Townshippe­rs at 819-566-5717.

A few people participat­ed in playing the ‘baseball game’.

Our next meeting will be November 21 at the Elie Carrier Center. Arrival 11:30 a.m., the meal will be served at noon – soup, meatloaf and dessert - the meeting will follow after the meal. As usual you will receive a call from Barbara or Lydia.
