Actions Interculturelles to steer diversity and employment consultation process
Actions interculturelles has announced the orientations of the consultation process it will conduct in the Estrie as part of its regional mandate from the Department of Immigration, Diversity, Immigration. and Inclusion (MIDI). The activities implemented and co-chaired by. Soucila Badaroudine and. Pierre Boisvert will aim to gather the testimonies of citizens and stakeholders in the field of discrimination, racism, employment and diversity.
Consultations in different forms
Immigrants, racial minorities, and others who wish to describe "discriminatory situations" that they have witnessed or experienced will be able to do so until December 1, in strict confidentiality.
Organizations, institutions and companies will also be able to share experiences, possible solutions, and reflections in the form of a short memoire. They may also be heard at a November 29 public hearing.
Badaroudine, co-chair of the consultation, emphasizes that, "We want to offer a voice to anyone who has seen or experienced a situation of discrimination or acts of a racist nature. We are counting on our partners to refer individuals who wish to share their experience or to speak on their behalf."
Boisvert adds: "In order to identify possible solutions, we also want to talk with local stakeholders to investigate good practices and take note of suggestions that could improve the integration and cohabitation of employees, students, patients, customers, and neighbors from here and elsewhere."
Following this first step, a public hearing, the details of which will be announced shortly, will be held on November 29, 2017, and a status report will be submitted by December 15, 2017.
