Groundbreaking of Le Renaissance

- By Louise Smith

The groundbreaking for the beginning of the construction of the new Le Renaissance residence in Cowansville began on November 8 at 2 p.m.

With a full house under the big tent, the Fauteux family of Sherbrooke presented its $26 million project of over 160 units to be located among the businesses and services, behind the Super C. As promised, the project will be ready to accept its first residents by the end of autumn 2018.

Vincent Fauteux, project developer, took the occasion to mention that this living area is not built with just shovels and concrete, but most of all with heart.

The new mayor, Sylvie Beauregard, the political attachée for Denis Paradis, federal deputy for Brome-missisquoi, contractor Gératek, and the partners took this occasion to slash the champagne and celebrate with the future residents.

The Cowansville project will be the fourth residence of the group, which already has locations in Sherbrooke, Magog, and Thetford Mines.

The event marked the official opening of the new rental office, located directly on the site. The all-new autonomous, ecological, and mobile building was built to fit the project. The rental office is open from Monday to Friday, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Next Saturday at Heroes’ Memorial School at 317 rue Sud (South St.) there will be the annual prechristmas sale. The parents will be running a lunch room, the school is hosting a scholastic book sale, and there will be close to 40 vendors throughout the gymnasium and the hallways.

What a great way to get all your Christmas shopping done while helping out local artisans and the students of Heroes’ Memorial. The rental of the tables is going towards the Heroes’ Memorial Bursary Fund. Thousands of dollars over the years have been given to graduating high school students who at one time attended Heroes’ Memorial.

The sale will go on from 9 a.m. until 4 p.m. This sale has been held in the school for well over 20 years. It is well established and everyone who attends goes away from the sale with full bags and a smile.
